Easter 2020

By Home, Whats On

Do you like a challenge?

Do you enjoy musical theatre?

Do you want to work with professional performers, directors and musicians?

Do you want to have fun?

If yes, then why not spend the week with Petersfield Youth Theatre creating an exciting piece of musical theatre?

Our Easter project is now one of the highlights in the PYT calendar. It is a fantastic way to spend a week of your Easter holiday. During previous Easter holiday activities we have had 160 young people working with professional performers & directors.

Centre Stage will feature song and dance numbers from popular musical theatre productions. We will spend four days working towards a fully staged production, featuring a live band. This performance will be given to your friends and family. This is open to members and non-members aged 5-13.

As part of our Centre Stage project we invite those aged 14+ to join us for Come Sing and Dance Hairspray.  The first three days you will be working with an MD and choreographer on numbers from Hairspray. The final day you will join everyone taking part in the project preparing to perform later in the day at 5pm and 7pm to an audience of family and friends of those taking part.

PYT is renowned for its exciting approach to theatre for young people. So why not join us?

Venue: Bedales School, Steep

Dates: Tuesday 14 – Friday 17 April 2020

Performances: Friday 5.00pm and 7.00pm

NEW THIS YEAR Breakfast Club – last year we had enquiries about the possibility of earlier drop offs. To try and accommodate this we are trailing a breakfast club with drop off between 8.00-10.00am. Participants would have to be booked onto all four days and the block booking costs £24.00.

Breakfast menu:

  • Fresh fruit salad
  • Yoghurt
  • Cereal
  • Choice of toast or croissant

Please note this will need to be supported by enough bookings for us to go ahead but we are hopeful this will be a helpful option and be well received.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

By Project Archive

Step through the wardrobe with PYT this December into the magical kingdom of Narnia. Say hello to a talking faun, meet an unforgettable Lion and join Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter on the most mystical of adventures. Experience what and who they encounter as they are taken away from wartime Britain to a mysterious faraway land ruled by the White Witch. Will good triumph over evil? Will it always be winter, never Christmas? Based on the novel by C.S. Lewis, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a classic family favourite that PYT are delighted to be bringing to life this Christmas.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe runs for 9 performances from Tuesday 17 – Sunday 22 December at Petersfield Festival Hall. Weekly Winners

By Home, Whats On

Would you like to help a local charity and have a chance of winning a jackpot of your own?

Why not join Weekly Winners – PYT’s major fundraising scheme to raise funds for the PYT Bursary.

We are hoping that one high profile fundraising scheme will be more beneficial than an endless stream of different smaller events. By paying via Standing Order there’s no fuss involved and you get the satisfaction of helping a local charity without really having to do very much. Unlike national schemes, there’s also a much higher chance of you winning something!

The funds raised will be for the PYT Bursary which is designed to assist members who may not otherwise be able to participate in PYT activities due to financial barriers. These bursaries will cover up to 100% of the fee for these activities and each application will be carefully assessed on a case by case basis. In order to apply for the Bursary members need to request an application pack as detailed on our ‘Join Us’ page.

Without Weekly Winners subscribers we would be unable to offer this support. If there is any surplus income it will be used towards our creative programme which will benefit all PYT members.

Please click on the button below to learn more about how it works and how to apply.

Guys and Dolls

By Project Archive

This September PYT are presenting Frank Loesser’s celebrated musical comedy Guys and Dolls. This sizzling, New York tale of gamblers, gangsters and nightclub singers – plus one missionary – features some of Broadway’s greatest show-stoppers, including Luck Be a Lady, Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat and My Time of Day.

Join the teenagers of PYT as they roll the dice and fall in love under the bright lights of Broadway. They will take you on a toe-tapping journey, through cafes of Havana, via Salvation Army meetings and even into the sewers of New York City, to discover if gambling on love really does pay off.

Performances: 18-23 September

Venue: The Festival Hall, Petersfield

Box Office: One Tree Books from Friday 24 August
